Best Dressed November 2014

While most of us are covering and wrapping up warm for winter, we can all live vicariously through this month’s best dressed. I always love this time of year on the red carpet as we see some gorgeous gowns to get us excited about the upcoming awards season. Look out for some stunning looks from Kate Hudson, Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek.

Chic Nudes and Silver

Molly King, Kate Hudson and Nicole Scherzinger

Molly King, Kate Hudson and Nicole Scherzinger

The Saturday’s star and fashionista Molly King was pictured leaving the Casio Sheen event in Covert Garden, London. Molly had her signature tanned legs on show wearing strappy silver heels and a nude Peter Pan collared, skater skirt dress. Similarly in nude, Kate Hudon stunned at the LACMA Art Film event in a Gucci gown. This is definitely my favourite look from last month. I love the scalloped hem line, gathering on the waist and one shoulder detailing. This is a perfect dress to get us all excited for the upcoming awards season. Nicole Scherzinger walked the red carpet at the Global Gift Foundation in London last month. Nicole wore a metallic Ermanno Scervino midi dress with silver shoes, slicked back hair and a bold lip.

Press Call Looks

Jessica Chastain, Angelina Jolie and Amy Adams

Jessica Chastain, Angelina Jolie and Amy Adams

Jessica Chastain looked elegant in emerald as she attended the A Most Violent Year press call in LA. Pairing her capped sleeved over the knee dress with pointed black heels, Jessica kept her hair and makeup natural, opting for a bright pink nail instead. Angelina Jolie wore a beautiful Gucci Premiere full length dress to the Unbroken Sydney premiere. The silk dress boasts a gorgeous lace overlay and neckline. Angelina always get’s it right on the redcarpet. Amy Adams, also attending a press photo call in LA last month kept it neutral in navy. Like Jessica she paired her simple dress with pointed patent heels. A big trend this season.

Street Style

Katie Holmes, Katherine Heigl and Gemma Arterton

Katie Holmes, Katherine Heigl and Gemma Arterton

In NYC last month Katie Holmes attended an event at Apple. Katie kept it casual in blue jeans, a grey wool jumper with printed neck detailing and my least favourite part of the look, red-tan ankle boots. Katerine Heigl looked effortlessly cool as she was papped at the airport. The grey jumper and coat combo is perfectly executed with black jeans and white-grey slip on shoes. Casual-chic at it’s finest. Actress Gemma Arterton battled the British breeze in a gorgeous winter outfit. Wearing a brown heavy woollen over coat, Gemma addeda white shirt under her cable knit jumper. Like Katherine, she also paired her look with black jeans and gorgeous brown Chelsea boots.

Black and White Combos

Selma Hyek, Carrie Underwood and Angelina Jolie

Sama Hayek, Carrie Underwood and Angelina Jolie

Salma Hayek, also attening the LACMA Art and Film event, looked wonderful in a white in (you guessed it), Gucci. This dress looks amazing on Salma, the column style displays her waist to perfection and the embellished neckline which splits off into a halter style is so unusual and beautiful. The silver clutch further adds to the classy look. Top marks from me. Singer Carrie Underwood looked very wintery at the Concer for Valor in Washington DC. Carrie paired knee length boots with a full skirted coat and fluffy scarf. Once again, Angelina Jolie is featured on the Best Dressed list. Attending the London premiere of Unbroken, this time Angelina wore a beautiful white Ralph and Russo over the knee dress. My favourite [art of this look is the bolero cape. It’s perfect for winter and super elegant.

Best Dressed September 2014

Incase you missed it… George Clooney got married! As always, Mr Clooney wore Armani but his gorgeous wife Amal stepped out in a variety of beautiful designer outfits for us to drool over. Including the wedding of the year, so far, September was also unofficial Fashion Month. With runways and front rows brimming with style and sophistication Paris, New York and Milan brought loads of desirable styles to the fore. Film festivals and film premières topped of the red carpet looks featured in this months best dressed list.

Amal Alamuddin aka Mrs Clooney

Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney’s wedding weekend, Stella McCartney, Oscar de la Renta and Giambattista Valli

After what can only be described as a fairytale wedding and weekend in Italy, Amal Alamuddin became the most talked about bride of the year.  Amal wore a stunning lace Oscar de la Renta gown for her intimate ceremony. I am in love with the neckline of this dress. The off the shoulder detailing is extremely elegant and flattering. Amal was also pictured looking like a movie star in a white and navy Stella McCartney trouser, top and hat combo. To top off a fabulous weekend of outfits Amal showed off her endless legs in a floral appliqué and laceGiambattista Valli dress. Swoon!

C’est Chic

Amanda Holden, SJP and Allison Williams

Amanda Holden, SJP and Allison Williams

Amanda Holden arrived at Claridges hotel last month is an over the knee black and white dress, paired with thin-strapped black shoes. Amanda accessorized with a chic hair do and black clutch. Sarah Jessica Parker attended the Gareth Pugh presentation in NYC in a vibrant, also over the knee, printed dress. SJP finished the look with pointed silver heels. Also in pointed heels, actress Allison Williams looked like the bell of the ball as she attended the DVF NYC show. Does this girl every get it wrong? I love the checked grey detailing. I think if Dorothy ever made it from Kansas to NYC fashion week, she would be definitely wear this dress.

All Black, Everything

Toni Garen, Allison Williams and Reece Witherspoon

Toni Garen, Allison Williams and Reece Witherspoon

Model Toni Garen wore an interesting layered black dress to a Nars launch event in NYC. I really like the vertical panel detailing on the corset which extends into a sheer skirt with horizontal strips. Allison Williams features again in another great outfit from NYC last month. This time Allison wore a tea length skirt and crop top by Vionnet with a white collar and waist band trim. Reece Withersppon attended the Toronto Film Festival for the screening of her latest flick, Wild. Reece wore a black Saint Laurent dress with a cute flowy skater skirt, off the shoulder detailing and sparkly side panel.

Film Festival Frocks

Cara Delevigne, Jessica Chastain and Kate Beckinsale

Cara Delevigne, Jessica Chastain and Kate Beckinsale

Cara Delevigne walked the not-so-red-red-carepet at the Toronto Film Festival in a full length striped green dress with a gold belt. I love this look on Cara. The multiple shades of green work well with her skin tone and hair and her makeup is classically beautiful. Kate Beckinsale, also at the Toronto Film Festival, wore a strapless nude-pink jumpsuit with subtle wrap detailing at the bust with an odd but workable piece of fabric stemming from the waist. Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain was honoured at the Deauville American Film Festival. Jessica wore a heavily embroidered Oscar de la Renta pink over the knee dress with spiky Louboutains.

Red and Silver Combos

Emily Ratajkowski, Rosie Huntington Whitley and Gwen Stefani

Emily Ratajkowski, Rosie Huntington Whitley and Gwen Stefani

Did someone say Jessica Rabbit? Wow! Emily Ratajkowski attended the Gone Girl world premiere in a simply stunning red SAFiYAA dress. The minimal hair and no jewellery add to the elegance and simplicity of this look. My favourite look from last month by far! Rosie Huntington-Whitley stunned in silver as she attended the Stuart Weirzman event in Paris while Gwen Stefani wore a red power suit  with white top as she was papped between work commitments. The printed Louboutains add some fun to this work wear.

Best Dressed August 2014

The end of August saw some great red-carpet appearances from television, film and music royalty. The Emmy Awards, MTV’s Video Music Awards and The Teen Choice Awards last month displayed some great style his on the carpet. Of course, banks of photographers were there to capture every moment of it.

The EMMYS 2014

Kiernan Shipka, Sofia Vergara, Joanne Froggatt and Taylor Schilling at The Emmy's 2014

Kiernan Shipka, Sofia Vergara, Joanne Froggatt and Taylor Schilling at The Emmys 2014

Televisions equivalent to the Oscars, the Emmys sees TV’s finest strut their stuff on the red carpet. Mad Men’s fourteen year old Kiernan Shipka looked beautiful in this grey Antonio Berandi dress. It’s appropriate for her age, feminine and pretty. I love the jewelled detailing across the waist/stomach area. Everyone’s fave Colombian, Sofia Vergara stunned in a white and silver detailing Roberto Cavalli gown on the red carpet while Joanne Froggatt ditched her doudy Downton maid uniform for a show-stopping J Mendel dress. I can’t get enough of the flowing material leading to a gorgeous skirt and the chain detailing on the bust. A best dressed contender for me! Orange is the New Black’s Taylor Schilling wore a full length Zuhair Maurad beaded dress which perfectly compliments her great figure.

Sarah Paulson and Lizzy Caplan at The Emmy's 2014

Sarah Paulson and Lizzy Caplan at The Emmy’s 2014

Opting for a darker look on the Emmy red-carpet, Sarah Paulson looked amazing in an Armani Prive black gown with a spotted red netting overlay. Personally I love this dress and look on Paula, although the jury is still out for many online critics. Everyone loves a risk taker! Hasn’t Lizzy Caplan come a long way from her Janice Ian Mean Girls days? I think Lizzy looks like the belle of the ball in this black and white Donna Karan Atelier number. Another best dressed contender.

The VMA’s 2014

Keltie Knight, Bianca A Santos and Greer Grammer at The VMA's 2014

Keltie Knight, Bianca A Santos and Greer Grammer at The VMA’s 2014

TV Host Keltie Knight looked ultra-feminine and glamorous in a figure hugging blue and nude crop top and pencil skirt. I love the strappy gold shoes which top off her romantic look. Actress Bianca A Santos looked regal in a gold flapper-esque Naeem Khan dress. It’s short, gorgeous and perfect for the VMA’s! Greer Grammer brought some summer colour to the red-carpet in her bright bluey-turquoise hued dress by Walter Mendez. Although the sheerness and beaded appliqué is slightly revealing I think the feminine flowy skirt and side split make this look red-carpet appropriate.

The Teen Choice Awards 2014

Cat Deeley, Nina Dobrev and Taylor Swift at The Teen Choice Awards 2014

Cat Deeley, Nina Dobrev and Taylor Swift at The Teen Choice Awards 2014

Cat, Nina and Taylor brought some great colour to the Teen Choice Awards blue-carpet last month. Cat opted for a brilliantly bright orange Alberta Ferretti dress. I’m loving the floral detailing on the waist and Cat’s skinny nude heels. The Vampire Diaries star and fashionista, Nina Dobrev looked fabulous as always in Vionnet crop top and shorts combo. The pink pointed shoes perfectly accentuate the pink in the outfit. Taylor Swift wore a gorgeous green   Novis skirt and crop top combo with yellow shoes to the awards. This look is bang on trend and I really like the colour combinations by both Taylor and Nina.

Cher Lloyd, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez at The Teen Choice Awards 2014

Cher Lloyd, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez at The Teen Choice Awards 2014

X Factor star Cher Lloyd is making quite a name for herself in America. Cher attended The Teen Choice Awards wearing a black and sheer Amen and Theory outfit. Putting her legs on display, Cher paired her short-shorts with a sheer studded, armoured long sleeved top. Fellow X Factor alumni Demi Lovato also attended wearing a white sophisticated Elisabetta Franci dress which she paired with gold pointed shoes. Selena Gomez also donned a pair of pointed shoes, this time in silver, as she strutted her stuff on the blue carpet wearing Saint Laurent jumpsuit.

Also Spotted Last Month…

Frankie Stanford, Katie Holmes, Odea Rush, Taylor Swift and Megan Fox

Frankie Stanford, Katie Holmes, Odea Rush, Taylor Swift and Megan Fox

The Saturday’s member, Frankie Stanford was pictured leaving ITV studios wearing a gorgeous dark purple top with sheer cut-out panel and a light lilac skirt. I love this look as it’s easy to replicate and looks effortlessly stylish. Elsewhere in New York, Katie Holmes, Odea Rush and Taylor Swift posed together on the red carpet at the premiere of their film, The Giver.  All three wore girl flowy dresses and all different lengths. Also in NYC Megan Fox looked lovely on the red carpet at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles premiere. Megan looked her usual fab-self in a mish-mash of black and white prints, which she paired with a pair of classy shoes.

Best Dressed May 2014

May is always an exciting month for fashion. The summer season trends are becoming more prevalent and prestigious summer events are kicking off to display these trends. The red carpet was rolled out once more for the annual Cannes Film Festival which brought glamour galore to the shores of France. The Met Gala in NYC saw a vast array of fashionable and whacky outfit to the most famous steps in New York. Of course, there were numerous parties and press calls to satisfy our couture appetite.

Cannes Film Festival Appearances

Jessica Hart, Jordan Dunn, Jessica Chastain and Rosie Huntington-Whitely

Jessica Hart, Jordan Dunn, Jessica Chastain and Rosie Huntington-Whitely

Australian model Jessica Hart looked beachy beautiful in a soft pasel pink dress. The material of this dress looks amazing and Jessica makes it look comfy. Pairing down her hair and makeup, a look for these events I don’t usually like, Jessica makes it work. Model of the moment Jordan Dunn made me green with envy in this Ellie Sabb mini. Not a dress I would usually associate with Ellie Sabb, this embellished emerald green dress, cinched at the wait with a belt is a perfect option for the World Music Awards. The gold shoes finish off the look. Actress Jessica Chastain walked the redcarpet at Cannes to promote her latest film ‘Foxcatcher’. The purple Ellie Sabb Coture dress looked like a Grecian goddess and fairy princess combined as her dress blew in the wind along the carpet. Jessica never disappoints! Rosie Huntington-Whitely donned a bright yellow Emilio Pucci dress during her stay in Cannes. The model works a dress that I think many would struggle to.

Blake Lively, Cannes Redcarpet Queen

Blake Lively, Cannes Redcarpet Queen

Every year or redcarpet season there is a stand out. This year the title of Cannes best dressed lady goes to Blake Lively. Renowned for her impeccable self-styling, Blake stole the show at Cannes, attending the festival with husband Ryan Reynolds to promote his film ‘Captives’. Opening night of the festival at the ‘Grace of Monaco’ premier, Blake wore a blood red Gucci Première floor length gown. The dress featured a thigh skimming split and geometric neck. Blake accessorised with stunning Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and equally fab Casadei shoes. While I love this dress, Blake had her best ‘fashion moment’ attending the ‘Captives’ premier with Ryan. This is by far my favourite look of Blake’s and the month. The couple looked old school glamorous, both in Gucci. Wearing her hair in a massive but classy bun to the back of her head Blake styled the dress with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a red lip. Taking a break from Gucci and the redcarpet Blake then wore a short white embellished Giambattista Valli Spring 2014 Couture number. Making her legs even longer, Blake donned  Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals which I really, really, really want! The final look in this montage is of Blake in a Chanel Couture dress attending the ‘Mr Turner’ premier. Keeping her hair down in a messy curls Blake topped off her look with massive rings once again by Lorraine Schwartz.

Robert Pattinson, Ryan Gosling and Matt Smith

Robert Pattinson, Ryan Gosling and Matt Smith

Despite looking like he would rather not be there, Robert Pattinson attended Cannes photocall starring in two films featuring in the festival, ‘The Rover’ and ‘Maps to the Stars’. Robert wore a green blazer, with black shoes and top combined with denim jeans. I like this style on him as we don’t often see the actor too dressed up. Ryan Gosling made the carpet go crazy as he steeped out to promote his film ‘Lost River’ Ryan wore simple brown trousers and a white shirt with scuffed boots. Former DR Who, Matt Smith flew in for the event looking very French chic and preppy. I love his boat shoes and navy chino combo with light blue shirt and tweed jacket.

Quite all White

Katherine Mc Phee, Cate Blanchett, Miranda Kerr

Katherine Mc Phee, Cate Blanchett and Miranda Kerr

Actress and singer Katherine McPhee wore a white laced detailed dress last month attending a CBS television event. Katherine wore trendy white shoes and showed off her blonder, shorter hair, leaving it in messy curls. Oscar winner Cate Blanchett wore a white dress as she attended an event at Windsor castle. This is the perfect dress to attend to meet the future King of England. I loved the sculpted shoulder and the sophisticated hair. An Oscar winner worthy dress! Miranda Kerr, a regular on this list every month, wore a printed white and floral dress in Sydney promoting her Kora skincare range. The only fault I can find with this look are the shoes.

Jess Weixler, Jennifer Lawrence and Natasha Poly

Jess Weixler, Jennifer Lawrence and Natasha Poly

The Good Wife actress, Jess Weixler made waves on the redcarpet at Cannes in this flowing, soft white dress. I love the way this dress sits and the blue floral detailing on the neck. Jess matched her hair to the dress in a soft updo and added some bling with a diamond ring and earrings. Everyone’s favourite, Jennifer Lawrence made an appearance in Cannes wearing a short Dior shirt and crop top. Natasha Poly wore an amazing Vionnet dress. The plunging neckline and tight bodice make way for a floating skirt which on close inspection matches the material of the bodice.

Black Beauties

Jessica Chastain, Cara Delevigne, Lily James and Nicki Minaj

Jessica Chastain, Cara Delevigne, Lily James and Nicki Minaj

Jessica Chastain features again this month because, let’s face it, she knows how to dress. I really like this black Givenchy dress. Sometimes black can be harsh on someone as pale as Jessica but the bodice detailing and the skirt on this dress are far from harsh. The soft hair added to the elegance of the overall look. Cara Delevinge and Lily James both wore black as they attended Windsor Castle. Cara wore a tight black dress with grey, almost floral detailing, on the bodice while Lily wore a grey feathered dress fading to black at the hips. Nicki Minaj is almost unreocgnisable these days. Pairing down her look, make-up and hair wise anyways, Nicki wore a black cut out dress at the Billboard Music Awards. I have to admit, I prefer this new look even though her facial expression suggests she isn’t too happy with it!

Kendal Jenner, Amal Alamuddin and Karlie Kloss

Kendall Jenner, Amal Alamuddin and Karlie Kloss

Kendall Jenner made her Cannes début in at the ‘Grace of Monaco’ première in a black and white Chanel Resort dress.  Wearing those Stuart Wiseman ‘nudist’ shoes that everyone wants in black the only fault is the hair. The 3D effect on the bodice of Kendall’s dress reminds me of the dress Isabel Lucas wore last month. A polished and well pulled off look by the 18 year old.  George Clooney’s finace Amal Alamuddin was papped in London laving the hairdressers during May. I love the class and elegance of this black and white look. The sophisticated combo of black and white is amped up with massive sunnies and the amazing hairdo! Exactly what I’d expect a lawyer engaged to George to look like. Karlie Kloss also wore black and white last month in NYC. I love the wrapped detail of the silk top!

The Met Gala

David and Victoria, Karolina Kurkova

David and Victoria, Karolina Kurkova

Every year fashion’s finest come out in droves to celebrate on the Met steps in NYC. David and Victoria walked up the steps together in matching outfits. Victoria in one of her own creations and David in Ralph Lauren. Super stylish! Karolina Kurkova wowed in a massive Marchesa gown. Usually, I’m surprised at myself for loving this gown as much as I do. I think the huge structured skirt and neckline is amazing and perfect for the occasion. the hair a jewellery is simple but effective. One of my favourite looks from this years Met!

Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevigne, Selena Gomez

Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevigne, Selena Gomez

Kendall and Cara feature again as their looks were too good to leave out. Kendall wore a Topshop dress at her first Met ball. I love that Kendall opted for an elegant hairdo to show off her dress. She has had a great ‘fashion’ month in my books. Cara also didn’t disappoint in a black and white. Selena Gomez, also making her Met début wore a gorgeous purple DVF gown with Lorrain Schwartz jewels. I wasn’t mad about her hair from the back but I’m sure many will be copying her classy make-up and hair.

Let me know who made your best dressed list from May!
