The Best Celebrity #ALSIceBucketChallenges

The #ALSIceBucketChallenge has been doing the internet rounds for weeks now and it is not showing any signs of slowing down. The challenge aims to raise vital funds and awareness for ALS or Motor Neuron Disease. There have been various charity social media trends this year for good causes, like the #NoMakeupSelfie for Breast Cancer Awareness at the start of the year. However, the Ice Bucket Challenge is by far my favourite! Aren’t fundraisers better when there are soaking wet celebrities involved?!

Justin Timberlake

I love the energy and collective effort JT and his team went to in this video. They make the challenge look fun and exciting.

David Beckham

Well if a shirtless David Beckham doesn;t put a smile on your face, I don’t know what will!

Lady GaGa

Cool, calm and collected!

Niall Horan

Great reaction by everyone’s favourite One Directioner!

Victoria Beckham

The sheer delight and laughter in the background of this video is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face. Victoria getting drenched is an added laugh.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Only Leo could do an IceBucketChallenege whilst raising awareness for two important charities. A true philanthropist.

Michelle Dockery

I love Michelle’s video! Surrounded by half naked men in golden shorts and  she gives us possibly one of the best reactions to the ice cold water.

Don’t forget to donate if you do the challenge! Let me know your favourite video, celebrity or otherwise!

Best Dressed March 2014

The first month of Spring brought shorter hem lines, loads of floral prints and brighter colours. After a busy Awards season there were fewer red carpet appearances than usual last month. Most of the best dressed celebs were either attending luncheons, press junkets, movie premiers, clothing line launches or jetting in and out of the country.

Print

Kiernan Shipka, Eva Mendez and Michelle Keegan

Kiernan Shipka, Eva Mendez and Michelle Keegan

Fifteen year old actress Kiernan Shipka is already fast becoming a style icon! Attending the Paleyfest, Kiernan wore a printed Dolce and Gabbana dress. I love the style and shape of this dress aswel as the pretty gold shoes. Ten out of ten from me! Eva Mendez wore one of her own printed creations as she launched her clothing line in NYC last month. The blue and white subtle floral print is finished off nicely with sparkly gold heels. Actress Michelle Keegan displayed a serious tan as she attended the Vital Publicity event. Also wearing a subtle floral turquoise and white jumpsuit, Michelle accentuated her tan with white nails and white clunky shoes.

Sophisticated

Keira Knightly, Renae Ayris and Rihanna

Keira Knightly, Renae Ayris and Rihanna

Keira Knightley  wore Chanel as she attended the French fashion brand’s shopping themed show in Paris.  While the British press dubbed this as a “wasp dress”, I think Keira looks like the epitome of the ‘Chanel Girl’. The black and white number is classically Chanel and the tie detailing on the collar is a nod to Karl Lagerfeld. Rihanna also attended the event in Paris. Wearing a gorgeous lilac tweed number, she is the first celeb to don a pair of Chanel runners on the red carpet.  Former Miss Australia Renae Ayris looked lovely in Sydney as she attended the  Nespresso Inissia launch in a sequenced top and high waisted skirt combo. There is something casual yet glam about this look which Renae pulls off well.

The Vampire Diaries Chicas

Claire Holt, Phoebe Tonkin and Nina Dobrev

Claire Holt, Phoebe Tonkin and Nina Dobrev

The Vampire Diaries and The Originals cast members looked great at ParleyFest. Claire Holt wore a black and white floral jumpsuit with pointed nude shoes.  Phoebe Tonkin wore a girly Spanish inspired black off the shoulder dress which she acessorised with a black belt and Nina Dobrev wore a navy studded dress to the event. The only problem I have with Nina’s dress is its length. If this was an inch shorter it would look much more glamorous.

Casual Fellas

Jude Law, Ryan Reynolds and David Beckham

Jude Law, Ryan Reynolds and David Beckham

Jude Law looked classic-casual as he landed in JFK. Wearing black boots, light blue denim jeans and a black sheepskin jacket with a grey hoodie. Ryan Reynolds was papped leaving the set of Blake Lively’s new film, wearing combat trousers, a grey t-shirt and denim jacket. David Beckham was pictured leaving Rio airport looking his usual stylish self. David looked sleek in black skinny jeans, leather jacket, t-shirt and his trademark peak cap.

Stylish Couples

Johannes Huebl and Olivia Palermo, Gisele Bunchen and Tom Brady

Johannes Huebl and Olivia Palermo, Gisele Bunchen and Tom Brady

Fashionistas Olivia Palermo and fiance Johannes Huebl attended the Valentino show during Paris Fashion Week. Olivia wore a printed floral jacket with green short-shorts. Johannes looked sharp by her side in an overcoat with pocket square and shirt and tie. What a stylish couple! Tom and Gisele looked ‘Springy’  as they left the christening of their youngest  child, Vivian . Gisele wore 3/4 length white floral printed  trousers with red shoes, white t-shirt and blazer. (I saw an identical pair of trousers available in Warehouse but sadly I can’t find the link.) Tom looked smart in a navy suit with light blue checked shirt, tie and a pocket square to complete the look.

Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley in NYC and LA

Shailene Woodley in NYC and LA

Actress of the moment Shailene Woodley wore some gorgeous numbers during March as she attended various premiers for her new film Divergent. Shailene looked fab wearing a black Ellie Sabb one piece in New York. The cut out sheer printed panel and structured detailing at the top bring this onsie from boring to interesting. In La, Shailene wore an orange Jonathan Saunders mini dress at she attended the 51st Annual Publicists Awards Luncheon. This look is altogether very chic and elegant. I love, love,  her gold shoes which  add to some interest to the overall look. Shailene wore another Ellie Sabb number, this time a gorgeous bronze full length draped dress to the LA Divergent premier. I really like the detailing and slit on this dress although I think the very gold shoes are a bit of a clash. A look which would have fitted in with any we saw on the Oscars red carpet.

Elegant Ladies

Naomi Watts, Scarlett Johansson and Kate Middleton

Naomi Watts, Scarlett Johansson and Kate Middleton

Naomi Watts wore a maxi Michael Kors dress to promote her film, Diana. I love the colour of this dress ,  the rouching and cut out detailing. The floral print is bang on trend and the red clutch adds a mix of colour to her outfit.  Pregnant Scarlett Johansson added some fun to her red Vivienne Westwood dress with leopard print pointed heels. Scarlett matched her lip to her dress as she walked the blue carpet at the Captain America London premier. Kate Middleton celebrated St Patrick’s Day in style. Wearing a gorgeous green Hobbs coat, matching shoes and a gorgeous Gina Foster fascinator, Kate looked every inch the style Queen we know her to be.

Out and About

Jordan Dunn, Naya Rivera and Christine Bleakley

Jordan Dunn, Naya Rivera and Christine Bleakley

Model Jordan Dunn wore Burberry and Topshop combo as she left the Good Morning America studios in NYC. Ambassador for both brands Jordan looks runway ready ever. Actress Naya Rivera looked vampy as she walked the press carpet for the Glee 100th episode in a black sheer panel and below the knee number. TV Presenter Christine Bleakley was spotted leaving a restaurant in London last month. A typically casual outfit – jacket, jeans boots and scarf- Christine manages to make it all simple, chic and fashionable. I love the printed scarf and Prada tote.

Dressy Ladies

Michelle Dockery, Rosie Huntington Whitley and Miranda Kerr

Michelle Dockery, Rosie Huntington Whitley and Miranda Kerr

Michelle Dockery wore a beautiful blue and black Oscar de la Renta gown as she attended the Changing Faces Gala Dinner in London. The  style of this dress is so timeless as is the gold belted detailing, Michelle looks regal! Model Rosie Huntington Whitley showed off her amazing legs as she left the Vogue Festival. Rosie looked like she just stepped off the catwalk with her sunglasses, perfect hair and handbag. I love the light grey colour of her dress and the keyhole cut out. The pastel pink coat thrown over her shoulders is the perfect colour for spring and adds some extra glamour, as if Rosie need it! Fellow model Miranda Kerr also looked runway ready as she was papped in New York. In a floral Dolce and Gabbana floral print dress,  Miranda also wore a black jacket over her shoulders to keep off the NYC chill. Super Chic as always.

Let me know who your best dressed was!

Best Dressed December 2013

Happy New Year! It’s the final Best Dressed for 2013. Last month saw some great looks from The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle red carpets to casual street style. Now that Christmas is over and 2014 is here I’m especially looking forward to January and February as we will be in the thick of awards season fashion!

British Fashion Awards

Clemence Poesy Erdem Suki Waterhouse Burberry

Clemence Poesy in Erdem and Suki Waterhouse wearing Burberry

I have to confess myself a tiny bit disappointed with the fashion at the British Fashion Awards. Thankfully British model, and current GF to Bradley Cooper, Suki Waterhouse brought some glamour to the red carpet in a plunging lilac Burberry number. French actress Clemence Poesy wore a black printed Erdem gown to the event.

All Dressed in White

Amy Willerton Lily Aldridge Margot Robbie

Amy Willerton Lily Aldridge Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie donned a floor length Armani Prive dress to the New York premiere of her new film The Wolf of Wall Street. Model Lily Aldridge looked elegant in a white long sleeved mini dress. The sheer netting was bang on trend for the winter season and the sparkly red shoes added a magical touch reminiscent of the Wizard of Oz. Fresh from the I’m a Celebrity Jungle, Amy Willerton wore a white strapless gown paired with huge hair to The Sun British Military Awards, December 11th in London.

Not Forgetting the Fellas

Ok, so when I say fellas I have only one in mind! Bradley Cooper looked chic and sophisticated on the red carpet photo call for his latest film, American Hustle in NYC, wearing Tommy Hilfiger and Vivienne Westwood.

Black and White

Rosie Huntington Whitely displayed her long legs and torso in a Balmain printed mini at the AEM Association Children of the World event.  Making a rare public appearance, Blake Lively channelled old school Hollywood glam in a lace Marchesa dress at a charity event in NYC on December 10th.

Rosie Huntington Whitely Blake Lively Naya Rivera

Glee actress Naya Rivera looked like a super sophisticated secretary in Michael Kors at The Hollywood Reporters 22nd Women in Entertainment event while Rose Byre wore a gorgeous David Jones dress to launch the Boxing Day sales in Sydney.  Promoting American Hustle, Amy Adams wore a black sheer panelled Ellie Saab gown and  Adrianna Lima looked every inch the Victoria Secrets model as she wore a black slit asymmetrical skirt and diamante top to the a St Luke’s Event in NYC.

Rose Byrne Amy Adams Ardianna Lima

A Pop of Colour

Jessica Alba was spotted looking bright and fashionable in Beverly Hills on Christmas Eve. I love the floppy hate and oversized bright blue bag combo!  Chinese model, actress and singer Angelababy lit up the promo carpet in a bright yellow Stella Mc Cartney number.  Nicole Richie wore a blue and white Emilio Pucci crop top and trousers shopping. I can’t help feeling this is a peak of summer look. That said, I’m more accustomed to woolly jumpers and jeans during winter months.

Pinks Nudes and Reds

Naomie Harris looked like she was ready to attend thr Oscars in Monique Lhuillier  at the Oxfam Charity Gala. Downton Abbey favourite Michelle Dockery wore a simple but fashionable Miu Miu mini to launch Downton season 4 in the USA.

Nicole Scherzinger stunned on the X Factor in a Ziad Naked structured sequined red gown. Also wearing a red gown, Astrid Kilsans in Gabriela Cadena and young fashionista, Kiernan Shipka wore a trendy red tartan dress to the ACLU event in California.

It’s been a great year for fashion, here’s hoping that 2014 is equally as exciting!

Best Dressed October 2013

Now that November is upon us, it’s time to recap the best looks from October; the month that Miley covered up, (who would have thought!) and, of course,  the month Prince George made his second public appearance. Winter has landed as many opted to cover up and keep it chic.

Bundled Up for Winter

Blake Lively, the new face of L’Oreal Paris, stepped out in New York in an Isabel Marant cosy jumper with printed leggings. This is a look I’m sure will divide many, but personally I think Blake could wear a bin bag and look fabulous!

Blake Lively and Olivia Palermo Jumpers

Fashion Princess Olivia Palermo looked super chic in black and white in New York on October 9th.  Olivia takes this look from ordinary to chic by adding a belt to accentuate her minuscule waist.

Cream of the Crop

Kate Middleton and Baby George co-ordinated their beautiful dresses on October 23rd. Kate looked elegant in Alexander Mc Queen, with matching hat, while George wore a handmade replica of the royal christening gown.

Kate Middleton Prince William and Prince George

Black to the Bone

Actress Clara Paget attended a Gucci party on Bond Street, London, last month. Clara looked elegant in her below the knee dress with sheer detailing across the chest and long sleeves. This is perfect way to dress for the colder winter months and still look fashionable.

Nicole Scherzinger is becoming a regular feature on my Monthly Best Dressed list!  Nicole accessorised a figure hugging black one piece with a fun leopard print handbag and white shoes in London.

Clara Paget and Nicole Scherzinger

MTV presenter Laura Whitmore wore this black Christopher Kane creation to the Scottish Fashion Awards on October 9th,  demonstrating that sheer is definitely not going anywhere for winter.

Cara Delevinge brought some high fashion to the AMFAR event in Brazil. Cara accessorised her plain black jumpsuit with matching diamanté belt and necklace.

Laura Whitmore and Cara Delevigne

English rose and everyone’s favourite Crawley, Michelle Dockery, looked lovely in black at a ChildLine event in the Savoy Hotel London. The shoes let this outfit down but Michelle can carry them off.

Charlize Theron brought life to her simple black gown with intricate shoulder embellishments, a big trend from Spring/Summer 2014, as she attended the Beverly Hills Arts Gala.

Naya Rivera and Olivia Wilde wore similar white print trends.  Glee actress Naya, who was wedding dress shopping in LA, looked runway ready with her black bag and nude heels in her structured dress. Olivia sported a higher neck line and longer hem line to the International Women’s Foundation.

Olivia Wilde and Naya Rivera

Samantha Barks looked radiant in a printed mini dress at the Classic Brit Awards on October 2nd. The newly single actress matched her shoes to the subtle gold tones running through her dress.

Hunger Games actress Elizabeth banks wore a red printed crop top and matching skirt to the Variety Power of Women event on October 5th.

Elizabeth Banks and Samantha Barks

Casual Ladies

Cheryl Cole and Selena Gomez looked effortless this month in leather look trousers and white tops.

Model Karlie Kloss looked amazing as she posed for Coach’s new collection on the streets of New York.

Cheryl Cole Karlie Kloss and Selena Gomez

Julianne Hough and Lily Collins kept it causal but chic, at the 30Seconds to Mars concert in LA on October 13th. Julianne paired a plaid red top with a black leather jacket, leggings, gorgeous boots and a fun hat. Lily wore a long camel coat which she also accessorised with black.

Julianne Hough and Lily Collins 30 Seconds to Mars Concert

Green

Miley Cyrus wore this long sequined green number to The Fashion Group International event on October 22nd.  Somehow I have a feeling we won’t see Miley this covered up for a long time to come.

Miley Cyrus and Ashley Roberts

Ashley Roberts wore a dark green jumpsuit, not unlike the same one Nicole Scherzinger wore last month to and Autism Fundraiser in London.

Not forgetting the Fellas!

Michael Fassbender looked sharp as he took a break from gracing the front pages of magazines to attend to The Councillor premiere in London, October 9th.

Michael Fassbender and Prince Harry

Prince Harry kept it simple with a crisp white shirt, navy chinos and brown suede shoes, on October 1st as he left the Book of Mormon theatre show in Notting Hill, London.

As always, let me know your best dressed favourites!

Fashion Fix: The 2013 Emmy Awards

Television and Hollywood’s fineest stormed Los Angeles on Sunday September 22nd for the annual Emmy Awards. Of course, all eyes were on the red carpet fashion! Pale pinks and champagne colours dominated. Lace, intricate beading and sequences were also a prominent feature on the red carpet. Simple and structured purple, red and blue gowns made bold statements. Hair wise, simple ponytails, side curls and basic straight blow dries were popular amoungst the nominees and guests. Clare Danes, who wore a beautiful Armani Privee gown, looked amazing with her “faux bob”. Rose Byrne also debuted a new hairdo changing her brunette locks to a light, honey blonde. It’s Time For: Wimbledon

Rackets at the ready please!

Image

Summer is officially in full swing now that Wimbledon has hit our television screens.  (Yes, I know, terrible tennis puns are unnecessary.) Coverage from the prestigious All English Lawn Tennis  Club for the next two weeks will focus on world class players, the underdogs, shock early exits, which this week included Rafael Nadal, celebrity spectators and of course,  strawberries and cream.

Nadal bows out of Wimbledon. Naomi Campbell pays a visit

Nadal bows out of Wimbledon Early. Naomi Campbell, Mollie King, Pippa and Jmes Middleton and Michelle Dockery all enjoy the Action on court

Nadal bows out of Wimbledon Early. Naomi Campbell, Mollie King, Pippa and Jmes Middleton and Michelle Dockery all enjoy the Action on court

Last year after my final exams, myself and two of my friends headed over to London for a mini holiday. On the third day of our trip we decided to hop on the tube and head out to Wimbledon. The tennis club is about a fifteen/twenty minute walk from the tube station so be prepared. Along the way there were Evian reps giving out free water and companies distributing free strawberries and cream sweets, which were delicious! For those of you who planning to go to Wimbledon on a whim, here is what to expect.

Queues, Queues and More Queues

If you don’t have tickets, try to get there as early as possible. When we arrived at the “No Ticket” gate around 10 am we were greeted by a not so friendly young blonde attendant. She informed us that it was “cash ONLY” from here on in. The nearest ATM was a good walk away so make sure to have cash with you. None the less, there is a great queuing system in place. The attendants even handed us a “Guide to Queuing”!  The queue begins at the edge of a field and curves right the way round. Eventually, after you walk up and down the field numerous times you reach another entrance.  Naively we thought that this was the entrance to the grounds.  This point sees the beginning of a long walk up to the grounds.  Along the way there are more freebies including sweets, juice and water. We were also reminded numerous times that it was indeed, cash only. After two hours of queuing we reached the security checks.

Top L-R, Queues to enter the grounds, Campers setting up for the next day. Bottom Entrance to the Grounds

Top L-R, Queues to enter the grounds, Campers setting up for the next day. Bottom Entrance to the Grounds

Note: The free blister patches we were given further back were not allowed in. After a quick climb up the stairs we were finally there. It was worth the wait!

Tickets and Where To Go

Once you begin to see the roof of centre court and the exclusive roof dining areas the boring queuing atmosphere dissolves and the buzz of Wimbledon replaces it. The ticket office wizz you right through.  Once leaving the ticket area you are free to roam the glorious grounds, including gift shops where you can buy, towels, programmes, hats, even used balls. Naturally we headed straight for strawberries and cream stand, which were surprisingly cheap at £2.50 each. Strawberries at Wimbledon

Henman Hill has a great atmosphere if you’re interested in watching the games on centre court. There are multiple courts that you can view games without tickets but if you want a seat you need to be there early.

What to Bring With You

As we were completely unprepared for our outing I’ve compiled a list of a few essentials that I wish I had brought with me.

  • An Umbrella, a Light Coat, Sun cream and Sunglasses. The weather is always unpredictable so I would highly advise preparing for all eventualities. When we were queuing to get into the grounds it was cloudy and quite cold. Once we reached the courts the sun was splitting the rocks. Later on in the day it began to drizzle. Typical English summertime weather!
  • A blanket, drinks and food. If you haven’t got a ticket it’s most likely you will be on the Hill watching the action. We regretted not having brought a picnic with us and a blanket of sorts to sit on. The grass can be quite damp up there. While there are benches they’re usually full. There is no more free water once you get inside. You can buy food inside but if you have a good spot, you won’t want to leave it. Food also comes in handy when you’re queuing. There are burger and concession stands but at 11 in the morning we didn’t feel like burgers.

Despite not having the majority of what I’ve mentioned above, Wimbledon was a fantastic day out. There is so much to see and so many strawberries to eat! If you are making a trip to Wimbledon I would advise that you don’t go on a day that a British player is on court. The man ahead of us in the queue last year told us that the queues are twice as long and they often close the grounds when they’re full.

Make sure to look out for the ball boys and girls around the grounds. They walk around like little ducks in a row. If you’ve had the chance to experience Wimbledon, make sure and leave a comment below. I’d love to hear from you.
