Best Dressed January 2014

Whhooweee! What a crazy month January was for celebrity fashion. The Golden Globes, The Grammy Awards, The National Television Awards and various film and TV critic lunches and cocktail parties have left us with loads of fashion to drool over. Added to this some book promo tours and television chat show appearance and it makes for a seriously picture heavy post.

Trend Alert: Yellow

Angelina Rose Olivia Munn Lupita Nyong'o

Yellow has been everywhere this red carpet season. While it has yet to have an outing on any major awards red carpets I’m sure we might see it throughout the spring season.  Angelina Rose wore a prom-esque short yellow dress with a broach inspired design on the side. The Newsroom actress Olivia Munn wore a bright Victoria Beckham halter dress with matching white shoes and clutch, which I love, and this seasons It Girl, Lupitia Nyong’o wore a low cut yellow number with cute shoes to promote her Oscar Nominated Film 12 Years A Slave.

Block Colours

Anna Kendrick Dita Von Tease Jessica Chastain

Anna Kendrick looked lovely in Reem Acra at the Unicef 2014 Ball. The sheer lace keyhole cutouts are stylish, on trend and add an extra edge to an otherwise plain gown. Dita Von Tease kept it elegant in puple and Jessica Chastain wore Nina Ricci to the Critic Choice Movie Awards. Doesn’t it slightly resemble the Gucci number Luptita wore to the SAG Awards?

Zosia Mamet Nina Dobrev Naomie Harris

Girls actress Zosia Mamet has never looked better. I love this Elizabetta Franchi combo that she wore to promote Girls Season 3 in London.  On the opposite end of the colour spectrum, Nina Dobrev donned an orange embellished gown at the Art of Elysuim Heaven Gala. Naomie Harris continues her run of amazing dresses in this Naeem Kham sheer lace white dress which she wore to the Palm Springs International Film Awards.

Gold and Silver

Alison Williams Jessica Alba Lupita Nyong'o

The ever stylish Alison Williams didn’t disappoint in an interesting mullet style Osman dress which she wore at the third annual Sean Penn Haiti fundraiser event. Jessica Alba always looks enviously well at any event she attends. The crop-top and skirt combo she wore to the launch of Tory Burch’s flagship store in LA is going on my style inspiration board!

Helen Mirren Lupita Nyong'o Odette Annable

Lupitia Nyong’o features again on Januarys best dressed list… How stunning is this gold dress?! This lady is on a complete roll at the moment. I can’t wait to see what she wears in the next few months. She is also featured below in a vintage Valentina short daisy dress. Stunning! Helen Mirren and Odette Annable wore silver/grey sparkly numbers on the red carpet.

Jessica Alba features on this list again wearing a beautiful sheer blouse and pencil skirt to the filming of The Jimmy Falon Show. Actress Melissa McCarthey wore a recession busting flower print ASOS £26 dress at Palm Springs and also in a skirt top combo, Olga Kurylenko wore Dior to the Dior fashion show in France.

Bradley copper and GF Suki Waterhouse stepped out in matching black hats, sunnies and coats. At the airport Will Smith looked runway ready as he flew to various fashion shows in Paris. Zac Efron landed into LAX in blue denims, a black hat, sunglasses, coat and grey hoodie while Elijah Wood looked more polished in a navy and blue preppy shirt and jumper combo.

Tv presenter Holly Willoughby styled a gorgeous camel coat with jeans, black boots and an oversized brown bag on the streets on London. Sarah Jessica Parker looked super stylish in NYC under an umbrella wearing a pair of Hunter wellies. Way to battle the rain in style SJP! Cameron Diaz kept it casual as she promoted her new book with a check shirt, blazer and jeans.

Eastenders acrtress Jasmine Jossa stunned in a sheer embellished dress while sheer overlays. Rochelle Humes, member of The Saturdays, looked perfect in a purple sheer lace gown and supermodel Naomi Campbell wore a metallic printed dress on the red carpet.

Suited and Booted

David Gandy Tinnie Tempah Michael B Jordan

Model David Gandy deviated from a traditional black and white number and opted for a really stylish blue suit with creamy white dress coat at the Saville Row fashion show in London. Tinnie Tempa looked very fashion forward at the Burberry London menswear show in a grey suit with green overcoat with fur trim. Michael B Jordan added some interesting detail to his suit with stylish black and white shoes.

Bradley Cooper Joe Manginello James Marsden

Bradley Cooper, a regular on my Best Dressed list looked elegant wearing a grey suit, spotted tie and black over coat. Similarly Joe Manginello wore a spotted tie with his suit while James Marsden added a  pop of colour  to his outfit with a purple pocket square.

The Grammys

Singer Katy Perry took music to the red carpet in a white fullskirt Valentino gown which was definitely appropriate for the occasion. Superhuman Beyonce wore a white sheer Michael Costello gown which looks like it could have inspired by Adam and Eve. Paired with a bold lip and messy Hair B looked amazing as usual. Iggy Azalea looked elegant in an Ellie Sabb number, the best I think she has looked at an event for a long time.

Christie Teigan wearing Johanna Johnson, Ciara and Taylor Swift in Gucci gowns

Christie Teigen wearing Johanna Johnson, Ciara and Taylor Swift in Gucci gowns

Newly married Christe Teigen wore a Johanna Johnson metallic number to support her husband John Legend on the red carpet. Keeping with the metallic theme Ciara showed off her babybump in a stunning Gucci dress with mini pool train. The detail on this dress is incredible and Ciara looks like a superstar wearing it. Taylor Swift, also in Gucci, took a break from her girly dresses and opted for a chain detail floor length dress, keeping her hair and jewellery simple to compliment her look.

As always, I’d love to know who you thought looked best during the month of January!
