It’s been a long time since I’ve featured a monthly best dressed. To make up for my slacking I’ve decided to merge December and January into one post. Thank goodness award season is up and running. It always provides so many gorgeous dresses straight from the runways any many of those dresses make their first red carpet débuts. With the countdown to the Oscars under way, all keen fashion eyes will be peeled to see who wears what. Until then, here’s a round up of some of the best so far from the award season and last December’s picks.
The Golden Globes 2015
Remember last year when Lupita Nyong’o was cooking up a storm on the red carpet with her killer dresses and equally killer personality? This year Lupita has continued her winning streak, stepping out onto the Golden Globes red carpet in a purple and white floral and feathered Giambattista Valli gown. Emily Blunt showed some skin in a white flowy column Michael Kors gown. The criss-cross halter neckline and the skirt on this dress are beautifully executed and showed off by Emily. Viola Davies matched the carpet in a simple and elegant red Donna Karen dress.
Winning lots of awards this season for both her film, Still Alice, and fashion, Julianne Moore features twice on my list this month. Pictured abouve at the Golden Globes in a feathered and metallic Givenchy gown, Julianne looks like an award statue herself! Salma Hayek attended the event in a beautiful creamy gown with silver undertones, set off perfectly by the silver belt around her waist. My only criticism is the flower in her hair… Reece Witherspoon, also a repeat this month, look stunning in a slim fitting Calvin Klein silver dress, accented by a great, simple hair-do.
The SAG Awards 2015
Felicity Jones has achieved notoriety not only for her role in The Theory of Everything, but for her fashion choices this award season. Pictured here, Felicity is wearing a peach structured Balenciaga dress. Julianne wore another Givenchy dress to the SAG’s, this time a green beaded number while Reece wore an off the shoulder white, full length Armani dress.
Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2014
In all white everythiiingg (couldn’t ressit!) the Victoria’s Secret models landed into London, accompanied by Taylor Swift, to launch the biggest lingerie show of the year. Candice Swanepoel wore a risqué sheer white lace gown, similar to one Beyonce wore to the Grammy’s. Alos on the pink carpet, Karlie Kloss matched her neck-tie with her shoes in a masculine vibed dress with a slit in the front. Taylor combined sheer and a slit on the carpet at the event, incorporating some fishnet detailing across the chest and sleeve.
Casual Chicas
Battling the December cold in NYC Jessica Alba looked cosy-chic in black skinny jeans, parka, super-white runners and a casual cotton hat. Looking ever the model off duty, Rosie Huntington Whitley steeped out in a gorgeous military green double breasted jacket, white t-shirt, navy jeans and knee high suede boots. I love this outfit as much as I love Rosie’s new hair! Also pictured in NYC during December, Karlie Kloss wore leather full length, all in one, leggings and boots. Yes, leggings and have boots at the bottom! She kept it casual in a grey knit and white striped shirt, topped with a Burberry Mac.
Let me know who your best dressed was!
